The purpose of Discover First is to introduce guests to the church and to help new members accomplish the following: become significantly engaged with others; grow in their relationship with Christ; get involved in missions, evangelism, and ministry; and familiarize themselves with member expectations at First Baptist Church Tuscaloosa. Discover First events are also open to current members who wish to learn how to become involved in the ministries of the church on a deeper level or to a greater capacity. Completion of the four Discover First sessions is a prerequisite for membership with First Baptist Church Tuscaloosa.
First Baptist periodically offers the Discover First series as a one-day event on a Sunday morning. Discover First consists of four sessions: Discover Membership, Discover Maturity in Christ, Discover Missions and Evangelism, and Discover Ministry. These sessions have been developed by our staff and are led by various pastoral staff members. By the end of the series, participants will understand church membership, discover their spiritual gifts, and identify which areas of ministry in the church are ideal for them based on their unique gifting and passions.
